Position: President (2-year term ending in 2025)

Matt MacFarlane (Augustine Cove)

I am seeking the position of Party President as I believe that my skills and experience can benefit the Party at this time of regrowth and refocus.

I have served on numerous Boards, at the local, provincial, regional, and national levels. Most of this experience involves serving at the executive level, in either the position of President/Chair of the Board or as Secretary to the Board. I have a BA from UPEI (Political Studies) and an LLB from the University of Ottawa and have practiced law at PEI since 2004. Prior to returning to PEI and beginning my law practice, I worked on Parliament Hill as a Legislative Assistant in the Senate of Canada and a Market Research Officer in the Department of Foreign Affairs.

I have previously served on Council for the Party as a member at large and after the 2019 election as the Official Agent. I ran as a Green Party candidate in the 2019 and 2023 Provincial General Elections in District 19, finishing second behind the incumbent candidate on both occasions.

I live in Augustine Cove with my wife, cat, and two pet pigs. I would look forward to the opportunity to assist the Party in moving forward toward the next provincial election and ensuring province-wide readiness for such an election.

Position: Secretary-Treasurer (1-year term ending in 2024)

George W. Mason (Charlottetown)

I have been a member of the Green Party since I retired four years ago. Prior to that, I was an excluded employee of the Province for many years and was not allowed to participate in political activities.

In February of 2023, I was appointed to Council as the acting Secretary-Treasurer. Since that time, I have been active in coordinating Party finances along with the provincial campaign team.

Over the years, I have been on the Board of many non-profit groups, most recently CHANCES(Treasurer), CNIB (Board Member), and currently the Island Nature Trust (Secretary). My career included four years at UPEI, four years in the private sector, and financial roles with the Province in Energy, Forestry, Environment, Municipal Affairs, Health, Finance, Justice, and the Auditor General’s Office.

Willow Anderson (Charlottetown)

Willow was born and raised in Ontario but has recently made her dream come true by moving to beautiful PEI. While exploring her new neighborhood Willow was fortunate to meet Karla Bernard and get an introduction to the PEI Green Party. After reading their platform, Willow realized the focus on sustainability went far beyond the environment.

She found what she was looking for in a party that has fiscal, social, healthcare, housing, and food sustainability as its focus.

Willow has always looked for a party that is fiscally responsible and socially liberal and the PEI Green Party was a perfect fit. As part of the 2SLGBTIA+ community Willow brings a unique and personal point of view to matters of diversity and inclusion.

With 30 years in the business world including evolving roles in sales, logistics, purchasing, and management, Willow has great practical experience to bring to the table of any board.

Toby MacDonald (Summerside)

Having enjoyed sitting as an Interim Member at Large and learning about Council over the past 10 months, Toby would appreciate the opportunity to expand on what she has learned. It was a wonderful team to work with.

She currently sits on the Membership and Volunteer Standing Committee and working alongside Darlene, Adina, and Joan on this committee has been rewarding. They were tasked with putting forward some fundamental groundwork such as the committee’s terms of reference. This, with groundwork in place, has helped us to move forward and further develop and grow our membership and volunteer base. Toby hopes you will support her as she puts her name forward for a member at large seat on Council.

Bio: Toby was born and raised in Wellington, one of our beautiful Acadian areas on PEI. Shortly after graduating from Nursing School, Toby and her family moved to Summerside and remain there to this day. Toby is a strong advocate when it comes to speaking out for the health and safety of Islanders, especially students, and the rights of children.

Toby wants to further her fostering of positive change in her community and province by being an active member of the Regional Association for Districts 21 and 23 and by continuing to be a member of the Green Party Provincial Council. Since joining the Green Party Provincial Council, she sits on the Membership and Volunteer Committee.

Michelle Patterson (Canoe Cove)

I live in Canoe Cove (born and raised here!) and I am passionate about making changes that benefit society as a whole, not just a specific few.

I hold a PhD in biomedical sciences and over 10 years of research experience and have spent the last 4 years working in the legislative

assembly of PEI with the Green Caucus. With a deep understanding of policy development, I have worked tirelessly to ensure that the needs and ideas of everyday people are taken into account.

My commitment to grassroots ideas is reflected in the work that I have done in the legislature as well as in my volunteer time. I sat on the board of the Cornwall Timberwolves Football Club for the past year and I am a dedicated member of the PEI Ground Search and Rescue Team.

After working as a Campaign Manager this past election, I see the need to better bridge the gap between the legislative office and the Green Party. I am applying for a position on the council so that I can help make sure that grassroots ideas from the Party are well represented along the continuum from our RA’s to our Legislative work.

Darlene Sorrey-Scott (Montague)

I am interested in serving at large on Provincial Council to advance the core

values of the party across the province. Primarily I wish to support efforts in Eastern Kings Counties that build local capacity at the grassroots level.

Outreach to interested groups and agencies for events, planning, and strategy building that combine greener projects and policies in partnership with citizens, volunteers, and other community agencies will be a focus if I am elected.

Bio: Darlene was born and raised in Montague. She has been a member of the Green Party since retiring home to PEI after a long career in the non-profit sector in Newfoundland and Labrador where she managed projects on adult literacy, addictions, internet learning, adult education, and poverty reduction. Darlene has written or edited various community-based reports on multidisciplinary coordination, strategic planning, human resources, curriculum, community liability & insurance, housing needs for seniors, employment strategies, women and addiction, responding to sexual abuse, and economic development at the community level.

Darlene was a print journalist with the former Daily News and Evening Telegram newspapers in St. John’s. She has degrees in Sociology and Social Work from Memorial University and is a former Executive Director of the East Coast Trail Association. She is a former board member of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Newfoundland and Labrador. She volunteers with Elder Dog Canada (PEI) and sits on the Board of Directors of the Garden of the Gulf Museum.

David Voigt (Tyne Valley)

My partner and I moved to the beautiful community of Tyne Valley on PEI 11 years ago. I have done many things in my life and have had several career changes, but I am still excited about where my life is going next. I am currently working for Lennox Island First Nation, doing repair and maintenance at the school and community center.

I got involved with the GPPEI after meeting Trish Altass when we were both volunteers at a community event. After being impressed with the caliber of candidates, I volunteered on the 2019 campaign for Trish and Lynne Lund. After the election, I became chair of the D22/23 District Association. But after a few years, I got discouraged by the inner politics of the GPPEI and resigned my position.

I have always felt passionate about the GPPEI’s core values and the idea that the candidates that we have been able to put forward can truly make a difference here on Prince Edward Island. But unless we can get the candidates elected, our change is limited to just ourselves. It’s with this in mind that we all give up some of our free time to build a stronger community of leaders. And for that reason, I want to serve and help shape the direction of the party.

Perry Williams (St. Catherines)

Perry Williams has owned and operated Virtual Studios Creative Digital Media since 1995. Prior to that, he was a music teacher with the PEI English School Board. Perry holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from The University of Prince Edward Island (1983) and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Western Ontario (1993). He has been an active member of the PEI music community for over four decades and continues to perform regularly with several community and professional groups.

Perry has been actively involved with the Green Party of PEI since 2013. He has served on various committees at the provincial level as well as the District 17 EDA. A lifelong Islander, Perry believes he can bring that life experience and perspective to the GPPEI Provincial Council.

Perry lives in St. Catherines with his wife Susan in the home they designed and built in 1999. Their three adult children all presently reside in PEI.
